PROJECT MYPALS
A student-led volunteering organisation passionate about bringing joy to long-term care patients through music and befriending.
ABOUT PROJECT MYPALS
We understand the power music has on the soul - it brings relief, joy and an escape from the dullness of everyday life. Especially with COVID-19, we see the even greater potential of music to alleviate the loneliness experienced by many since being confined to their homes. This is exceptionally the case for residents at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN), where loneliness is a grave concern.
We want music to be like a breath of fresh air, brightening up the lives of RHN's residents.

ABOUT THE ROYAL HOSPITAL FOR NEURO-DISABILITY (RHN)
The RHN is a charity, independent from the NHS but working closely with it, to provide the best possible care for people living with neuro-disability.

They care for people who have become disabled due to a brain injury, illness or neurological condition, including people who may have a degenerative or progressive condition.
VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
Who are we looking for?
VOLUNTEER PERFORMERS
Do you love to sing or play instruments? If so, this role is made for you!
We are looking for musically-inclined individuals who are able to perform informally for the residents of RHN. For example, singing Abba on karaoke in a ward, or playing music on a stage.

Performers will also get a chance to befriend and chat to residents!
VOLUNTEER BEFRIENDER
Want to volunteer but music is not your strong suit? No worries, be a befriender to our residents!

As a befriender, you will chat to and assist the residents as you enjoy the music performances alongside them!
